PRESS RELEASE: STEVEN SOGO & HOPE STREET

Friday June 17th 2011 EVERSHOT Village HallDoors open 8.00pm BAR

Steven Sogo is the most promising singer to have emerged from the central African country of Burundi in years. He is a virtuoso guitarist and a master of numerous traditional instruments, having taken up the guitar age 14 in the middle of the civil war to express his wish to live a normal life. His music is pure, original blues: his songs are a cry for life, full of pain and hope at the same time; a mirror of life today in Burundi. Steven and his band fuse modern with traditional instruments in this wonderfully exuberant live show. His song ‘Est Beau Mon Pays’, a hymn to the beauty and vast human wealth of his ravaged country was a huge pan-African hit. His live shows are an unforgettable feast of emotion, colour, dance and glorious harmonies.
